Uses of Ceftop Injection

Cefoperazone is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is used in the treatment of pseudomonas bacterial infections .

Side Effects of Ceftop Injection

Rash, skin reactions, fever, eosinophilia, urticaria, and pruritus. Haematological - Slight decreases in Hb conc and haematocrit value. GI effects, diarrhoea or loose stools, nausea, and vomiting. Mild, transient elevations of serum SGOT, SGPT, and alkaline phosphatase concentrations. Renal effects - Transient elevations in BUN and serum creatinine concentrations.

Drug Interactions

With aminoglycosides: Concomitant admin may increase risk of nephrotoxicity. With heparin/warfarin: Concurrent use may cause marked hypoprothrombinemia and/or prolonged bleeding time.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Known allergy to penicillins.

Mechanism of Action

Cefoperazone, a bactericidal antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis of actively dividing cells by binding to one or more penicillin binding proteins (PBPs). Sulbactam is a β-lactamase inhibitor and acts primarily by irreversible inactivation of β-lactamases.

Pregnancy, lactation.

Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.

• Alcohol: Avoid during treatment.
• Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
• Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
