Uses of Change Tablet 10s

Ofloxacin + Ornidazole is used to treat a variety of bacterial and parasitic infections, including:

1. Urinary tract infections
2. Bacterial infections of the eye and ear
3. Skin and soft tissue infections
4. Sexually transmitted infections
5. Respiratory infections
6. Vaginal infections
7. Protozoan infections
8. Mixed infections

Side Effects of Change Tablet 10s

The most common side effects of Ofloxacin + Ornidazole are:

1. Stomach upset: This can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

3. Dizziness: This can be caused by the medication or by dehydration.

Drug Interactions

Probenecid decreases elimination. Antacids may reduce ofloxacin absorption, avoid for 2 hr either side of administration. Cimetidine may increase ofloxacin concentrations. Monitor blood glucose in patients on antidiabetic medication. Potentially Fatal: Corticosteroids may increase risk of tendon rupture. Increases effects of oral anticoagulants, ciclosporin, theophylline. Increased risk of seizures with NSAIDs. Avoid in patients taking QT prolonging medication (e.g. class Ia or III antiarrythmics, astemizole, terfenadine, cisapride, erythromycin, pentamidine, phenothiazines and some TCA).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to quinolones; pregnancy and lactation; prolongation of the QT interval; uncorrected hypokalaemia.

Mechanism of Action

Ofloxacin + Ornidazole is a combination of two antibiotics: Ofloxacin and Ornidazole. Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. Ornidazole is a nitroimidazole antibiotic that kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that cause infections by damaging their DNA.

Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.
