Uses of Drofem Tab

• Relief of abdominal pain caused by smooth muscle spasms
• Treatment of gastrointestinal spasms (such as stomach and intestinal cramps)
• Management of biliary tract spasms, including gallbladder pain
• Relief of renal and ureteric colic associated with kidney stones
• Reduction of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) due to uterine spasms
• Adjunct therapy for irritable bowel syndrome with spastic symptoms
• Relief of pain due to smooth muscle spasm in urinary tract disorders

Side Effects of Drofem Tab

Indigestion, heartburn, dyspepsia, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain and flatulence.

Drug Interactions

Aceclofenac may interact with lithium, digoxin, diuretics or ACE inhibitors.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in gastric ulcer patients.

Mechanism of Action

Drotaverine is an antispasmodic agent that works by selectively inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type IV (PDE-IV) in smooth muscle cells. This inhibition increases intracellular levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), leading to relaxation of smooth muscles. As a result, Drotaverine reduces spasms and relieves pain in the gastrointestinal, biliary, urinary, and uterine smooth muscles without affecting normal intestinal motility.

Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.

Safety Concerns

• Alcohol: Avoid during treatment.
• Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
• Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
