Uses of Dutaxel 100mg Injection

Paclitaxel is a chemotherapy drug that is used to treat various types of cancer. It is a cancer chemotherapy drug that works by slowing or stopping cancer cell growth.

Paclitaxel is used to treat:

  1. Breast cancer: Paclitaxel is used to treat breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body or that has come back after treatment.
  2. Ovarian cancer: Paclitaxel is used to treat ovarian cancer that has spread to other parts of the body or that has come back after treatment.
  3. Non-small cell lung cancer: Paclitaxel is used to treat non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to other parts of the body or that has come back after treatment.
  4. Kaposi's sarcoma: Paclitaxel is used to treat Kaposi's sarcoma, a type of cancer that causes patches of abnormal tissue to grow under the skin.
  5. Other cancers: Paclitaxel is also used to treat other types of cancer, such as head and neck cancer, esophageal cancer, and bladder cancer.

Paclitaxel is given as an infusion into a vein. It is usually given once a week or every three weeks. The length of treatment depends on the type of cancer being treated.

  2. Neurological problems: This can include headache, dizziness, confusion, and seizures.

Drug Interactions

  • Bleeding medications: Paclitaxel can increase the risk of bleeding. If you are taking other medications that also increase the risk of bleeding, such as aspirin or warfarin, your doctor may need to adjust your dose or monitor you more closely.
  • Hormone therapy: Paclitaxel can interact with hormone therapy medications, such as tamoxifen and raloxifene. These interactions can increase the risk of side effects, such as hot flashes and vaginal bleeding.
  • Other cancer medications: Paclitaxel can interact with other cancer medications, such as docetaxel and carboplatin. These interactions can increase the risk of side effects, such as bone marrow suppression and neuropathy.

It is important to talk to your doctor about all of the medications you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, herbal supplements, and vitamins. Your doctor can help you to identify any potential drug interactions and make sure that you are taking paclitaxel safely.

Contraindications

History of hypersensitivity (especially macrogol glycerol ricinolate). Patients with baseline neutropenia of <1500 cells/mm3 (<1000 cells/mm3 for kaposi's sarcoma). Pregnancy and lactation. In kaposi's sarcoma, contraindicated in patients with concurrent, serious, uncontrolled infections.

Mechanism of Action

Paclitaxel is a chemotherapeutic agent that works by disrupting the formation of microtubules, which are essential for cell division. Microtubules are long, thin structures that form the scaffolding of the cell and help to move chromosomes around during cell division. Paclitaxel binds to the ?-subunit of tubulin, a protein that makes up microtubules. This binding prevents the assembly of microtubules and also stabilizes microtubules that have already formed. This results in the accumulation of abnormal microtubules in the cell, which eventually leads to cell death.

Special Precautions

Paclitaxel should also be used with caution in patients with the following conditions:

    1. Liver or kidney impairment.
    2. Heart disease.
    3. Peripheral neuropathy.
    4. Bone marrow suppression.
    5. Impaired immune system.
