Uses of LCF Kid Expectorant 60ml

Ambroxol is a secretolytic agent used in the treatment of respiratory diseases associated with viscid or excessive mucus. Guaifenesin is a drug usually taken orally to assist the bringing up of phlegm from the airways in acute respiratory tract infections. Also used in all forms of tracheobronchitis, emphysema with bronchitis pneumoconiosis, chronic inflammatory pulmonary conditions, bronchiectasis, bronchitis with bronchospasm asthma. During acute exacerbations of bronchitis it should be given with the appropriate antibiotic.

Side Effects of LCF Kid Expectorant 60ml

GI discomfort, nausea and vomiting; dizziness, drowsiness, headache; rash; decreased uric acid levels; urinary calculi (large doses).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

Mechanism of Action

Ambroxol is a metabolite of bromhexine and is used similarly as a mucolytic. Guaifenesin increases the volume and reduce the viscosity of tenacious sputum and is used as an expectorant for productive cough. Absorption: Well absorbed in the GI tract. Excretion: Urine.

Special Precautions

Persistent cough e.g. occurs with smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema; cough accompanied by excessive secretions; cough with a fever, rash, or persistent headache; Pregnancy, lactation. Porphyria.

How to Use

Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.

How to Store

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.
