Uses of Novefos 8gm Sachet

Fosfomycin tromethamine, a synthetic, broad spectrum, bactericidal antibiotic for oral administration. It is available as a single-dose sachet . Fosfomycin has broad antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, with useful activity against E. faecalis, E. coli, and various Gram-negatives like Citrobacter and Proteus. Fosfomycin is used in the treatment of urinary tract infections, where it is usually administered as a single oral megadose. Its use in combination with tobramycin to treat lung infections in patients with cystic fibrosis was also explored.

Side Effects of Novefos 8gm Sachet

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.Less serious side effects may be more likely to occur, such as: diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain or upset; headache; dizziness; weakness; stuffy nose, sore throat; menstrual pain; back pain; or vaginal itching or discharge.

Mechanism of Action

Fosfomycin is bactericidal and inhibits bacterial cell wall biogenesis by inactivating the enzyme UDP-N-acetylglucosamine-3-enolpyruvyltransferase, also known as MurA.

Special Precautions

Take precautions while taking MONUROL sachets (Fosfomycin 3gn sachet), if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Monurol sachet.
