Uses of Sorafenat 200mg Tablet 60s

Sorafenib is a targeted therapy drug that is used to treat three types of cancer:

  • Renal cell carcinoma (RCC). This is a type of cancer that begins in the kidneys. Sorafenib is used to treat advanced RCC, which means that the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.
  • Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This is a type of liver cancer. Sorafenib is used to treat HCC that cannot be treated with surgery.
  • Differentiated thyroid cancer. This is a type of thyroid cancer that has spread to other parts of the body and cannot be treated with radioactive iodine.

Side Effects of Sorafenat 200mg Tablet 60s

Sorafenib has following side effects:

  • Hand-foot syndrome
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Hair loss
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • High blood pressure
  • Bleeding
  • Infection

Drug Interactions

Sorafenib works by blocking the action of certain proteins that help cancer cells grow and spread. This helps to slow or stop the growth of cancer cells.

Contraindications

Sorafenib is contraindicated in patients with:

  1. Known severe hypersensitivity to sorafenib .
  2. Severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class C).
  3. Uncontrolled hypertension.
  4. Active bleeding.
  5. Pregnancy or lactation.
  6. Patients with squamous cell lung cancer who are being treated with carboplatin and paclitaxel.

Sorafenib should also be used with caution in patients with:

  1. Heart disease.
  2. Kidney disease.
  3. Liver disease.
  4. History of bleeding.
  5. Pregnancy or lactation.

Special Precautions

Interrupt teatment if patient develops cardiac infarction, ischaemia and/or bleeding fatalities. Regular monitoring of BP, CBC and platelet is recommended. Monitor INR in patients who are on treatment with warfarin. Adequate contraception should be used during and for at least 2 wk after stopping treatment. May need to discontinue treatment if severe or persistent hypertension occurs

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.

Safety Concerns

  • Alcohol: Avoid during treatment.
  • Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
  • Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
  • Liver/Kidney: Use with caution.
