Uses of Accentrix Injection

Ranibizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody and is used in the treatment of following eye diseases :

1. Neovascular (Wet) Age-Related Macular Degeneration (Amd)
2. Macular Edema Following Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO)
3. Diabetic Macular Edema (DME)
4. Diabetic Retinopathy (DR)
5. Myopic Choroidal Neovascularization (mCNV)

Side Effects of Accentrix Injection

Some of the common side effects of ranibizumab include :

1. Endophthalmitis and Retinal Detachments
2. Eye pain
3. Increased intraocular pressure
4. Eye inflammation

Contraindications

1. Ranibizumab is contraindicated in patients with ocular or periocular infections.
2. Should be avoided in patient with hypersenstivity to ranibizumab or any other contents of the injection

Mechanism of Action

Ranibizumab is a monoclonal antibody . It slows the growth of abnormal and new blood vessels in the eye and thereby reduces the discharge from these blood vessels .

Special Precautions

The injection should be administered by trained ophthalmologist . And proper hygiene techniques should be followed to avoid endophthalmitis and retinal detachments. Intraocular pressure should be monitored before and after the injection (usually at an interval of 60 minutes), because there have been cases of increase in intraocular pressure reported.

How to Use

Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.

How to Store

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.

Safety Concerns

• Alcohol: Avoid during treatment.
• Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
• Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
• Liver/Kidney: Use with caution.
