Side Effects of Clamist Tab

Drowsiness, CNS depression, dizziness, sedation; diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting; blurred vision, thickened respiratory secretions; tinnitus.

Drug Interactions

Antagonises effects of cholinergic agents and neuroleptics. Potentially Fatal: Severe sedation and CNS depression may occur when used concomitantly with alcohol or other CNS depressants.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity; narrow-angle glaucoma; neonates, lactation; porphyria.

Mechanism of Action

Clemastine competitively blocks H1-receptors sites on effector cells of the GI tract, blood vessels and respiratory tract. Absorption: Rapidly and almost completely absobed from the GI tract (oral); peak plasma concentrations after 2-4 hr. Excretion: Via urine (as unchanged drug and metabolites); 21 hr (elimination half-life).

Special Precautions

Tasks requiring mental alertness; bladder neck obstruction; CV disease; stenosing peptic ulcer; increased intraocular pressure; hyperthyroidism; symptomatic prostate cancer; elderly, pregnancy.

How to Use

Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.

How to Store

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.

Safety Concerns

• Alcohol: Avoid during treatment.
• Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
• Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
• Liver/Kidney: Use with caution.
