Uses of Drotin Plus Tablet 10s

• Relief of abdominal pain caused by smooth muscle spasms
• Treatment of gastrointestinal spasms (such as stomach and intestinal cramps)
• Management of biliary tract spasms, including gallbladder pain
• Relief of renal and ureteric colic associated with kidney stones
• Reduction of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) due to uterine spasms
• Adjunct therapy for irritable bowel syndrome with spastic symptoms
• Relief of pain due to smooth muscle spasm in urinary tract disorders

• Nausea
• Vomiting

• Low blood pressure (hypotension)

Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity or allergy to Drotaverine or any of its components
• Severe hepatic (liver) impairment
• Severe renal (kidney) impairment
• Severe cardiac conditions, including advanced heart failure
• Children below the recommended age, unless prescribed by a physician

Mechanism of Action

Drotaverine is an antispasmodic agent that works by selectively inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type IV (PDE-IV) in smooth muscle cells. This inhibition increases intracellular levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), leading to relaxation of smooth muscles. As a result, Drotaverine reduces spasms and relieves pain in the gastrointestinal, biliary, urinary, and uterine smooth muscles without affecting normal intestinal motility.
