Uses of Jocal-C Cap

The combination of calcitriol, calcium, and zinc can be used to treat a variety of conditions that affect bone health, including:

  1. Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become weak and brittle. This can lead to fractures, especially in the hip, spine, and wrist.
  2. Osteomalacia is a condition in which bones become soft and weak. This is often caused by vitamin D deficiency.
  3. Rickets is a condition that affects children and is caused by vitamin D deficiency. It can lead to bone deformities, such as bowed legs and knock knees.
  4. Hypoparathyroidism is a condition in which the parathyroid glands do not produce enough parathyroid hormone. This can lead to low calcium levels in the blood, which can cause symptoms such as muscle cramps, numbness, and tingling.

This medication is taken by mouth, usually once or twice a day. The dosage is based on your individual needs.

Mechanism of Action

Calcitriol, calcium, and zinc are three essential nutrients for bone health. They work together in the following ways:

  • Calcitriol is a form of vitamin D that helps the body absorb calcium from the intestines. It also helps the kidneys retain calcium and phosphorus. This is important for maintaining healthy bones and teeth.
  • Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body. It is essential for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth. It also plays a role in muscle contraction, nerve function, and blood clotting.
  • Zinc is a trace mineral that is involved in many bodily functions, including bone health. It helps to regulate the production of parathyroid hormone (PTH), which is responsible for maintaining calcium levels in the blood. Zinc also helps to promote the growth and repair of bones.

Special Precautions

Idiopathic hypercalcaemia. Pediatric doses must be individualised and monitored under close medical supervision. Coronary disease, renal function impairment and arteriosclerosis, especially in the elderly. Hypoparathyroidism.
