Baricitinib is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis .This medicine reduces inflammation , pain , sensitivity , rigidness and tenderness from the affected joints . It can also reduce the bone damage progression.

Side Effects of Olumiant 4mg Tablet 7s

Some of the side effects of baricitinib are :

1. Respiratory tract infection
2. Urinary tract infection
3. Herpes zoster
4. High blood cholesterol levels
5. hives (itching or skin rash)
6. chest tightness and wheezing
7. severe dizziness or light-headedness
8. severe abdominal pain especially accompanied with fever, nausea and vomiting
9. high number of platelets

Contraindications

Baricitinib is contraindicated in pregnancy and hence should not be given to a pregnant woman or a woman planning for pregnancy .

Mechanism of Action

Baricitinib blocks the enzyme Janus Kinase 1 and Janus Kinase 3 enzyme and thereby blocks signaling pathway in the immunological cells responsible for deformity and inflammation .

Special Precautions

Baricitinib may lead to few infections like respiratory tract infection and urinary tract infection . Therefore this medicines should be avoided if a patient has these infections and if the patient is suffering from tuberculosis .

Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.
