Uses of Telast 40mg Tablet 10s

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), a type of medication that is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It works by blocking the action of a substance in the body called angiotensin II, which causes blood vessels to tighten. This results in the relaxation of blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure.

Side Effects of Telast 40mg Tablet 10s

Some of the common side effects of telmisartan include:

  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Back pain
  • Cough
  • Rash

Drug Interactions

Concurrent use increases digoxin concentration; increases risk of lithium toxicity; increases risk of hyperkalaemia with potassium sparing diuretics, heparin.

Contraindications

Telmisartan is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Pregnancy: Telmisartan can cause serious harm to the fetus, especially during the second and third trimesters. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor about other blood pressure medications that are safe to take during pregnancy.
  • Breastfeeding: Telmisartan passes into breast milk and could harm a nursing infant. If you are breastfeeding, talk to your doctor about other blood pressure medications that are safe to take while breastfeeding.
  • Allergic reaction: If you have had an allergic reaction to telmisartan or any other ARB, you should not take telmisartan.
  • Severe liver disease: Telmisartan is not recommended for people with severe liver disease.
  • Renal impairment: Telmisartan should be used with caution in people with kidney disease.

Mechanism of Action

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor. Angiotensin II is a hormone that narrows blood vessels, which raises blood pressure. By blocking the AT1 receptor, telmisartan relaxes blood vessels and lowers blood pressure.

Special Precautions

Hepatic insufficiency, biliary obstruction, renal impairment, renaly artery stenosis. Correct volume depletion before initiating treatment. Monitor serum potassium levels regularly, especially in elderly and renally-impaired patients.

How to Use

Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.

How to Store

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.
