Uses of Unistar 10/75mg Capsule 10s

Rosuvastatin is used reduce LDL , Triglycerides ( "bad" cholesterol and fats) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. Generally used in combination with Aspirin or other anticoagulants to reduce the risk of heart attack and other cardio-vascular complications associated with high LDL .

Side Effects of Unistar 10/75mg Capsule 10s

Common side effects of Rosuvastatin includes muscle pain, stiffness, tenderness, wasting, or weakness, unusual tiredness or weakness and muscle cramps or spasms . Other side effects include dry or sore throat headache , runny nose tender, swollen glands in the neck .

Drug Interactions

Anticoagulants ('blood thinners') can affect the removal of rosuvastatin, examples include: warfarin , cimetidine , cyclosporine and ketoconazole.Coadministration of Rosuvastatin with Eluxadoline may increase the risk of Rhabdomyolysis and myopathy caused by the former.

Contraindications

Rosuvastatin has multiple contraindications, conditions that warrant withholding treatment with rosuvastatin, including hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or any component of the formulation, active liver disease, elevation of serum transaminases, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

Mechanism of Action

Rosuvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, also known as a "statin." It works by reducing the production of certain fatty substances in the body, including cholesterol. Aspirin is an anti-coagulant prevents the formation blood clots in vessels .

Special Precautions

In the case of breastfeeding, it is unknown whether rosuvastatin is passed through breastmilk, but due to the potential of disrupting the infant's lipid metabolism, patients should not breast feed while on rosuvastatin.
