Uses of Imatib 100 mg Tablet
Imatinib is used to treat certain types of cancer like
- 1. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia,
- 2. Chronic myeloid leukemia, (CML)
- 3. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and
- 4. Myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases.
Side Effects of Imatib 100 mg Tablet
Common side effects of IMATINIB:
- Increased risk of getting an infection

Contraindications
The only known contraindication to imatinib is hypersensitivity to imatinib.Cautions include:
- Hepatic impairment
- Risk of severe CHF or left ventricular dysfunction, especially in patients with comorbidities
- Pregnancy, risk of embryo-fetal toxicity
- Risk of fluid retention
- Risk of growth stunting in children or adolescents
Mechanism of Action
Imatinib is a specific inhibitor of a number of tyrosine kinase enzymes IN BCR . It prevents a BCR-ABL protein from exerting its role in the oncogenic pathway in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).
Special Precautions
- Before using Imatinib,inform your doctor or pharmacist your medical history if you have bleeding problems, heart problems (like heart failure), kidney disease, liver disease, removal of thyroid gland.
- This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy or blur your vision. So avoid drinking alcohol. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness or clear vision until you can do it safely.
- Imatinib may increase the risk of getting infections so avoid coming in contact with people who have chickenpox, flu, measles or other communicable diseases.
How to Use
Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.
How to Store
Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.
Safety Concerns
- Alcohol: Avoid during treatment.
- Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
- Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
