Uses of Remdesivir 100mg Injection

Remdesivir (GS-5734™) is used for the treatment of patients with suspected or laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection and severe COVID-19.

Side Effects of Remdesivir 100mg Injection

Side effects of Remdesivir include:
1. Anemia
2. Fever and myalgia 3. Renal impairment (Kidney damage)
4. Hypotension (low blood pressure), 5. Nausea and Vomiting

Drug Interactions

Drug-drug interaction trials of remdesivir and other concomitant medications have not been conducted in humans. Due to antagonism observed in vitro, concomitant use of remdesivir with chloroquine phosphate or hydroxychloroquine sulfate is not recommended

Contraindications

Remdesivir is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient of remdesivir.

Mechanism of Action

Remdesivir is an anti-viral drug. It is an adenosine nucleotide prodrug which gets converted to active nucleoside triphosphate metabolite in the body. It works by inhibiting an RNA dependent enzyme called RNA polymerase that helps the SARS-CoV-2 virus to multiply itself in the body. By inhibiting this enzyme, it decreases viral load in the body.

Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.

• Alcohol: Avoid during treatment.
• Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
• Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
