Uses of Solaze 100 mg Tablet 10s

Amisulpride is an atypical antipsychotic used to treat psychosis in schizophrenia and episodes of mania in bipolar disorder.

Side Effects of Solaze 100 mg Tablet 10s

Weight gain, dizziness, postural hypotension, extrapyramidal symptoms, neuroleptic malignant syndrome. GI disorders and dry mouth. CNS effects. Hyperprolactinaemia (with galactorrhoea, amenorrhoea, gynecomastia, breast pain, sexual dysfunction).

Drug Interactions

Guanethidine and other adrenergic neuron blockers, antiarrhythmics, antihistamines, antimalarials and cisapride, diuretics, general anaesthetics, hypnotics, anxiolytics and opioids. Metoclopramide may increase the risk of antipsychotic-induced extrapyramidal effects. Avoid alcohol.

Contraindications

Pregnancy and lactation, pheochromocytoma, prolactin-dependent tumors. Children <15 yr.

Mechanism of Action

Amisulpride is a substituted benzamide atypical antipsychotic with general properties similar to those of sulpiride and is reported to have a high affinity for dopamine D2 and D3 receptors. Absorption: Bioavailability: about 48%. Distribution: Protein binding: about 16%. Metabolism: Limited metabolism. Excretion: Terminal half-life: 12 hr. Mainly excreted unchanged in urine.

Special Precautions

Renal impairment, Parkinson's disease, CV disease, history of epilepsy, elderly. May affect performance of skilled tasks. withdraw gradually and closely monitored to avoid relapse. Elderly.

Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.

  • Alcohol: Avoid during treatment.
  • Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
  • Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
  • Liver/Kidney: Use with caution.
