Azelnidipine + Telmisartan is a combination medication used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It combines two active ingredients: Azelnidipine, a calcium channel blocker, and Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB).
Uses:
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients who are not adequately controlled with monotherapy
Reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack in patients with hypertension and other risk factors
Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, swelling of the ankles, feet, or hands, flushing, and stomach pain. Less common side effects include chest pain, irregular heartbeat, and allergic reactions. It's important to consult a healthcare provider for a complete list of side effects.
Azelnidipine + Telmisartan may interact with other medications, including other antihypertensive drugs, diuretics, potassium supplements, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It's important to consult a healthcare provider for a complete list of interactions.
Known hypersensitivity to Azelnidipine, Telmisartan, or any other components of the medication
Pregnancy (especially in the second and third trimesters)
Azelnidipine: Blocks the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure.
Telmisartan: Blocks the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that causes blood vessels to constrict, thereby relaxing blood vessels and lowering blood pressure.
Azelnidipine + Telmisartan should be used with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment, as it may worsen these conditions.
It is not recommended for use in children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
It may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery.
Alcohol may potentiate the blood pressure-lowering effects of the medication, so alcohol consumption should be limited.
Take orally with food and water, as directed by your physician.
Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.
