Uses of Azmet-vg 1 Tablet Sr 10s

The combination of Glimepiride 1mg + Voglibose 0.2mg + Metformin 500mg is a medication used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. 

1. Glimepiride: It belongs to a class of drugs known as sulfonylureas, which help lower blood sugar levels by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas.
2. Voglibose: It is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that slows down the digestion of carbohydrates in the intestine, thereby reducing the rise in blood sugar levels after meals.
3. Metformin: It is a biguanide that works by decreasing the production of glucose in the liver and improving the sensitivity of muscle cells to insulin, thus lowering blood sugar levels.

Side Effects of Azmet-vg 1 Tablet Sr 10s

1. Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, and metallic taste in the mouth.
2. Rare but serious side effects may include lactic acidosis (a buildup of lactic acid in the blood), which can be life-threatening.

Contraindications

This combination is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components, and in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis, severe kidney impairment, or severe liver impairment.

Mechanism of Action

Glimepiride stimulates the release of insulin from the pancreas, Voglibose inhibits the enzyme alpha-glucosidase in the intestine, and Metformin decreases the production of glucose in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.
