Uses of Azuvas 20 Tablet 10s

Rosuvastatin is used reduce LDL , Triglycerides ( bad cholesterol and fats) and raise good cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. Generally used in combination with Aspirin or other anticoagulants to reduce the risk of heart attack and other cardio-vascular complications associated with high LDL .

Side Effects of Azuvas 20 Tablet 10s

Rosuvastatin is a type of statin medication that is used to lower cholesterol. It is a very effective medication, but it can also have some side effects.

Drug Interactions

Contraindications

Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevated serum transaminases. Severe renal impairment. Concomitant use w/ ciclosporin and gemfibrozil. Pregnancy and lactation.

Mechanism of Action

Rosuvastatin is a statin medication that works by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. This enzyme is responsible for the production of cholesterol in the liver. By inhibiting this enzyme, rosuvastatin reduces the amount of cholesterol that is produced by the liver. This leads to a decrease in the overall level of cholesterol in the blood.

Special Precautions

Patients w/ predisposing factors for myopathy (e.g. untreated hypothyroidism, renal impairment), history of chronic liver disease and alcoholism. Discontinue treatment if there is significant increase in creatine kinase (CK) levels, serum aminotransferase levels or evidence of myopathy. Monitoring Parameters Monitor CK periodically and LFT.
